Federal, State, Local Government, proving time and time again that the only thing they are interested in is "self" and they will do whatever it takes to keep the money flowing into their deep pockets.
Now this is just wrong – U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman sold his Exxon stock this June as he was preparing to hear arguments on the six-month moratorium on deepwater oil drilling that the Obama Administration called for. He claims he did not realize he was invested.
Rachel Maddox on Judge Feldman
His decision to strike down the ban is tainted by his failure to recluse himself under conflict of interest, as well as his act to dump the stocks in order to remain in position to give the ok to lift the ban which would directly impact his other investments which would impact his monetary gains.
There is something sleazy about this decision and just as slippery as the oil pumping into the Gulf. While one could look at this and say, in the bigger picture of money gain in respect to oil production, on an individual level $1,000 in dividends is not that relative – or is it?
On another front, it takes Rachel Maddox, again, to break it down, in her sarcastic way, as she speaks on the concept of Unemployment Benefits. More importantly, the comments of Republicans, regarding the unemployed gives her reason to be sarcastic.
In essence it is ok to give oil companies the uninhibited right to continue to drill despite any viable back-up plan in case of an "accident" that, as we have been witness to for the past two months, has a catastrophic effect on commerce, wildlife, and a way of life to large numbers of people and oh "incidentally" took the lives of eleven people, but it is insanity to continue paying people unemployment even though the economy has not been fixed and people are still losing their jobs, their incomes and their live lines while, I might add, continually pouring money into wars that are still raging after years of conflict.
Again, I find myself shaking my head in an effort to clear the dizziness caused by this reality. Rachel Maddox – gotta love her!!! In most cases she sees things clearly.
And that’s the way I see it!!!
